This programme provides direct assistance to child victims of sexual abuse, sexual exploitation and trafficking in children, those at risk and their families. We also conduct awareness-raising and early intervention activities in local communities to increase community response to prevent and combat child sexual exploitation and trafficking in children. Our satellite offices in Atlantis, Beaufort West and Delft ensure that our services are easily accessible to children, parents and the local communities.
Identify and assess cases of child sexual abuse and exploitation
We conduct field visits – to monitor hot-spots, receive and follow-up on reports of possible child sexual exploitation and trafficking in children, conduct identification of cases and assessment interviews and follow-up activities with affected children and youth and those at risk.
Administer referrals and report child sexual abuse and exploitation
We assess reports and administer referrals to and from government and non-governmental service providers, conduct case assessments, assessment interviews, develop and implement intervention plans and provide report to and on affected children, their parents and care-givers as well as the relevant authorities as required.
Provide counselling to victims of sexual abuse and exploitation, those at risk and their parents / care-givers
We provide at least 3 to 5 initial sessions – and conduct follow-up counseling to address specific challenges that have affected children’s experience.
Re-integration and general support to victims and families
Regular home-visits and school-visits are conducted and on-going support provided to monitor a child’s progress and facilitate re-integration into family, school and community
Therapeutic and empowerment interventions for victims
We offer individual therapeutic activities and group therapeutic sessions, workshops and camps, including art and music therapy by skilled therapists and practitioners who are provided as and when needed
We encourage children’s participation in community activities as well as networking with key role-players and service providers to improve responses to assist and support child victims of sexual abuse and exploitation, those at risk and their families.
